As a collection of songs, Halfway to Summer deals mostly with the joy and challenge of seeking to “be here now” in the present, rather than focusing overmuch on the past and future. While Colin’s fluid acoustic guitar and gentle voice remain at the album’s core, Halfway to Summer features a wide range of instrumentation contributed by a cast of first-class musicians. Previous collaborators from Blazin Fiddles Angus Lyon (keyboards) and Jenna Reid (fiddle) are joined by bandmate Anna Massie (guitar and mandolin). Fellow singer-songwriter travellers Maria Quinn (piano and vocals), Shirley Barr (vocals) and Susy Wall (vocals), are also joined by renowned Scottish trumpeter Colin Steele and Swedish multi-instrumental wizard Gustaf Ljunggren (pedal steel guitars, clarinets and flutes). Finally, Findlay Napier and Uwe Mϋnnich help out on the guitar front.

The net result is a compelling new album that takes the listener on an uplifting yet intimate journey through joys and struggles, both personal and universal.

The album was produced by Angus Lyon, and mixed and mastered by Chris Waite at Gran’s House Studio, Biggar, Scotland.
